Yesterday, the Arab Women Organization launched the activities of the electronic platform for support and advocacy on women’s issues (first version) entitled “Gender-Responsive Budgets” which will last for three days via Zoom.

The sessions are moderated by Dr. Hind Al-Soufi, a professor at the Lebanese University – Higher Institute for Doctorate in Human Sciences; Dr. Joelle Abu Farhat, president of the Lebanese organization “fiftyfiftylp”; Dr. Fadi Shahwan, a media expert and trainer; and Dr. Wadi’a Al-Khoury, an associate professor in the faculties of education at the Lebanese University and Saint Joseph University.

A number of young men and women members of the organization’s Permanent Advisory Committee for Arab Youth are participating in the electronic platform.

In her opening speech, Dr. Fadia Kiwan, Director General of the organization, welcomed the attendees and lecturers. She went on to greet the youth participating in the dialogue, expressing her happiness with the participation of Arab youth of both genders, stressing the key role of youth in building our Arab societies.

She explained the goal of launching the platform, which is to interact and consult on women’s and girls’ issues, transfer experiences, communication, and advocacy skills, and provide the arguments required to defend these issues in a convincing way.

Moreover, Kiwan pointed out that despite the success achieved by women in all fields, which suggests that they are not lacking in anything, this success based on continuous struggle does not negate the fact that there are many difficulties and obstacles facing women in Arab societies that hinder their progress in public life, especially in the field of political participation which is exactly why we must continue working hard to overcome these obstacles through dialogue and strong, convincing arguments.
