Earlier today, the Arab Theater Festival discussed during the intellectual axis “The Image of Women in Arab Theater.” The symposium organizers raised several women-related questions.

Intellectually, it is organized over eight days and witnesses an extensive intellectual conference in which more than one hundred and thirty-six researchers and artists participate.

Dr. Zeina Al-Shabibi from Iraq moderated the symposium, and the speakers included Dr. Marwa Mahdi, who represented Egypt, and Majd Al-Qasas from Jordan.

It is worth noting that the Arab Theater Festival, in its 14th session in Baghdad, is witnessing special attention to Arab women, and its activities include a special day about women in Arab theatre; there is also a day for women in Arab theater and a day that talks about women’s efforts in Arab theatre.

The 14th session witnessed 19 theatrical performances, which qualified for the festival in high competition, all of which carry remarkable artistic experiences and sensibilities, including thirteen competing for the Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi Award and the “Gaza Metro” show from Palestine opens the festival’s performances.

This session pays special attention to women, and a speech on Arab Theater Day was delivered by an Arab theater artist, the distinguished Lebanese artist, Nidal Al-Ashqar. Among the honorees were five women of theatrical artistic stature in Iraq.
