In a recent interview, Ambassador Mona Omar, Former Assistant Foreign Minister, highlighted the state’s efforts to support women and empower them politically, saying: “President Sisi’s honoring of women is a great incentive to continue making more efforts, which is empowering women and motivating them to achieve the desired progress.

Omar added, during her telephone interview with Extra News, that in all electoral processes and practices that took place in the past years, the percentage of women was among the highest, which is an indication of the process of political empowerment that took place in all governorates, as there was a kind of awareness of women’s political participation.

She continued: For the first time in Egypt, we have a female governor, who was in Behaira and Damietta, and deputy governors, pointing out that growth and development indicators in any country are what has been achieved in the field of women’s empowerment, as we have seen women in positions in political parties.
