Al-Mashat, Maya Morsi Hold Meeting to Discuss Cooperation Efforts in Women’s Empowerment

Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, the Minister of International Cooperation, and Dr. Maya Morsi, the President of the National Council for Women, recently held a meeting to discuss various joint programs and initiatives. The aim of these programs is to support women’s empowerment and enhance their role in development.

These initiatives are being carried out in collaboration with international institutions and development partners. The main objective is to align with the State Development Vision and the National Strategy for Women’s Empowerment 2030.

During the meeting, several files were reviewed, including the “Catalyst for Closing the Gender Gap” initiative, which was launched in collaboration between the Ministry of International Cooperation, the National Council of Women, and the World Economic Forum.

This marks the first institutional cooperation between the Government and the World Economic Forum, establishing the first platform of its kind in Africa and the Middle East and North Africa region. The initiative aims to engage both the government and private sectors in taking action to close gender economic gaps in the local market.

During the meeting, the attendees discussed the most significant developments related to the implementation of “Catalyst for Closing the Gender Gap” and the progress achieved since its launch to advance women’s empowerment efforts.

The participants also reviewed the actions taken to involve the private sector in creating a working environment that enables women’s participation in management and leadership. The Minister of International Cooperation highlighted that around 100 companies have joined the Catalyst to undertake realistic and effective actions towards empowering women in the labor market through specific targets.

The Minister of International Cooperation emphasized the significance of coordinating joint action and showcasing the efforts undertaken under the catalyst framework to enhance Egypt’s ranking in international indicators and reports that monitor the advancement of women’s status in the economy and their role in development.
