Housing and Development Bank Opens Three Children’s Rooms at El Nas Hospital with EGP 11.4 Million in Contributions

As part of its ongoing cooperation agreement with El Nas Hospital, Housing and Development Bank (HDB) has inaugurated three children’s accommodation rooms, bringing its total contributions under the latest initiative to EGP 11.4 million.

The initiative reflects the bank’s commitment to corporate social responsibility and its strategy of prioritising support for the healthcare sector. By helping expand the hospital’s capacity, the bank aims to improve the quality of care available to children from the most vulnerable communities and promote equal access to healthcare.

The bank’s contribution includes equipping three children’s accommodation rooms within the hospital’s new unit, in addition to covering the treatment costs of 23 patients suffering from heart and gastrointestinal conditions who are on waiting lists. These cases require surgical interventions or catheterisation and endoscopic procedures, bringing the total value of the contributions to EGP 11.4 million.

The inauguration was attended by Yehia Abou El-Fotouh, CEO and Managing Director of Housing and Development Bank; Ayman Abbas, Treasurer of Al Joud Charitable Foundation; and Gehan El-Gouly, Head of Corporate Communications and Sustainability at Housing and Development Bank, alongside representatives from the bank and El Nas Hospital.

Sustained Partnership to Improve Healthcare for Children

Commenting on the inauguration, Yehia Abou El-Fotouh expressed his pride in the longstanding partnership and continued cooperation between Housing and Development Bank and El Nas Hospital, which began in 2022. The partnership aims to help provide better healthcare for children from the most vulnerable groups.

He emphasised that the bank’s support for El Nas Hospital stems from its belief in the importance of strengthening the healthcare sector. Through its community contributions, the bank focuses on development initiatives designed to generate a positive and lasting impact, improve citizens’ quality of life—particularly for those most in need—and promote equal opportunities in support of sustainable development goals.

Abou El-Fotouh added that corporate social responsibility remains a fundamental part of the bank’s identity, reflecting its commitment to balancing strong financial performance with a meaningful and sustainable positive impact on individuals and communities.

A Comprehensive Approach to Healthcare Support

Gehan El-Gouly, Head of Corporate Communications and Sustainability at Housing and Development Bank, explained that the partnership with El Nas Hospital, which has continued since 2022, reflects the bank’s commitment to building sustainable development partnerships based on integration and continuity, with the aim of making a tangible difference in people’s lives through support for different aspects of the healthcare system.

She noted that the cooperation has included a range of contributions. These began with support for medical capacity-building through hosting an American medical team to train 150 members of the hospital’s medical and administrative staff. The bank also helped equip an operating room with specialised medical equipment to strengthen the hospital’s ability to deliver advanced treatment services.

In addition, the bank contributed to reducing waiting lists for patients with heart and gastrointestinal conditions by covering treatment costs for cases requiring surgical interventions. Its latest contribution includes equipping three children’s accommodation rooms in the new unit, providing young patients with a suitable and comfortable environment throughout their treatment journey.

El-Gouly stressed that the diversity and integration of these contributions reflect a comprehensive vision of development, linking medical capacity-building with improved treatment facilities, easier access to healthcare services, and a care environment that addresses children’s psychological and humanitarian needs. These efforts aim to ease the burden on patients and their families while improving the quality of care they receive.

She added that Housing and Development Bank’s total contributions under its cooperation with El Nas Hospital have reached approximately EGP 17 million, underscoring the bank’s commitment to corporate social responsibility and its continued support for initiatives that deliver sustainable development outcomes.
