Egypt’s Economic and Social Development Plan for fiscal year 2026/2027 places women’s empowerment among its key priorities, linking greater women’s participation in economic activity to higher growth, improved household living standards and sustainable development.
The plan focuses on expanding small and micro-enterprises, providing access to financing, and strengthening training and skills development to support women’s economic independence and participation in the labor market.
The second phase of the Egyptian Family Development Program also targets improvements in several indicators affecting women, including increasing women’s representation in administrative positions, reducing early marriage, and lowering the number of girls who are not in education, employment or training (NEET).
The plan also includes support for reproductive rights and expanded awareness and education programs, with the goal of advancing gender equality and strengthening human capital.
According to the plan, investing in women is an investment in families and society. Egypt therefore aims to expand economic, social and cultural empowerment programs while linking them with family development initiatives and improved health and education services.
These measures are intended to increase women’s economic participation, improve human development indicators and strengthen the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy in the coming years.
