The Malaz Foundation for Women’s Support has launched a training program titled “Step Towards Independence” in Beni Suef Governorate as part of its broader Empowerment and Independence Building Program. The initiative aims to provide young women with the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills needed to build more stable futures and make informed life decisions.

The training reflects the foundation’s commitment to supporting principles outlined in international agreements ratified by Egypt, particularly the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW). It also aligns with the goals of Egypt Vision 2030 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, especially Goal 5: Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women and Girls.

Building Confidence Through Practical Learning

Participants took part in a series of interactive sessions and practical activities focusing on self-reliance, personal awareness, and responsible decision-making. The workshops encouraged young women to explore the meaning of independence and identify social and economic barriers that may limit their opportunities.

The program also addressed different forms of violence that can hinder women’s empowerment, highlighting self-protection strategies and practical approaches to handling challenging situations. These discussions aimed to strengthen participants’ confidence and ability to navigate everyday challenges safely and effectively.

Developing Critical Life Skills

A key component of the training involved hands-on exercises based on real-life scenarios. These activities were designed to enhance critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills while connecting them to personal and social independence.

By encouraging participants to analyze situations, evaluate options, and make informed choices, the program sought to equip young women with tools that can support both their personal growth and future professional aspirations.

Empowering Young Women to Lead Their Own Futures

According to the Malaz Foundation, true independence begins with knowledge, awareness, and the acquisition of essential life skills. The organization emphasized that the program represents a practical step toward helping young women move from dependency to active participation and leadership in shaping their own lives.

The foundation also announced that this training marks the beginning of a wider series of activities planned under the Empowerment and Independence Building Program. Future initiatives will aim to reach more women and girls across Beni Suef, supporting their social participation and strengthening their economic and personal independence.

Through its ongoing work, the Malaz Foundation continues to champion opportunities for women and girls, reinforcing the belief that women’s empowerment is not only a fundamental human right but also a key driver of sustainable development and more inclusive communities.
