Misr Life Insurance Company and the Egyptian Foundation for Integrated Development (ENID / El Nidaa Foundation) have signed a strategic cooperation protocol aimed at reviving the historic “French beaded loom” industry and modernizing traditional handicrafts, with a focus on empowering women economically in Egypt’s most underserved governorates.

The collaboration goes beyond training to form a comprehensive development initiative designed to revive heritage crafts that reflect Egyptian identity. By mastering manual weaving techniques, women beneficiaries are expected to generate higher economic value, improving the living standards of their families and communities, particularly in Upper Egypt.

Under the agreement, Misr Life Insurance Company will support the production of French beaded loom units and commit to purchasing finished handicraft products. This mechanism ensures the sustainability of the project by creating direct and reliable marketing channels for women artisans in the local market.

Mustafa El-Kammash, Managing Director and CEO of Misr Life Insurance Company, stated that corporate social responsibility is a core pillar of the company’s strategy. He described the partnership with ENID as a leading model of effective cooperation between the private sector and civil society, aimed at delivering measurable developmental impact.

Dr. Walid Brigaa, Executive Director of the Egyptian Foundation for Integrated Development (ENID), emphasized that the agreement represents a significant step forward in the foundation’s economic empowerment programs. He noted that the initiative provides an integrated value chain that includes technical training, production support, and guaranteed marketing opportunities, ensuring sustainable income for participating women.

Nevine Adel, Head of Marketing at Misr Life Insurance Company, highlighted the French beaded loom as a high-potential craft capable of creating direct employment opportunities for women. She expressed pride in expanding the ongoing partnership with ENID to reach a larger number of women and strengthen their role in the local economy.

Dina El-Beltagy, Marketing and Corporate Communication Manager at ENID, added that the project aims to transform traditional handicrafts into competitive, market-ready businesses. She stressed that the initiative focuses not only on production quality but also on enhancing marketing capabilities, enabling women artisans to successfully compete in modern markets and turn heritage skills into sustainable economic opportunities.
