Against the backdrop of the Great Pyramids of Giza, Egypt on Tuesday launched the International Paramotor and Skydiving Festival, titled “Egypt Air Games,” under the patronage of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the Egyptian Tourism Authority. The event, which runs through November 27, welcomes 200 international pilots from 30 countries, marking one of the region’s largest aerial sports gatherings.
The festival comes as Egypt prepares to host the World Air Sports Championship under the International Aeronautical Federation (FAI), further cementing the country’s rising status as a global hub for top-tier sports tourism and international athletic events.
Aerial Sports Take Flight Over Egypt’s Most Iconic Sites
Organized by Sky Sports, a company specializing in aerial sports events, the festival unfolds across several of Egypt’s most celebrated historical and natural destinations. Activities will take place over the Giza Pyramids, Saqqara, Fayoum, Galala City, and Hurghada.
Throughout the festival, professional aerial footage will be captured to showcase the country’s unique landscapes and archaeological wonders, supporting Egypt’s global tourism promotion efforts.
Tourism Authority: Sports Tourism Is a Strategic Priority
Engineer Ahmed Youssef, CEO of the Egyptian Tourism Authority, emphasized that the Authority’s sponsorship aligns with its strategy to expand Egypt’s sports tourism offerings — a segment in which the country has seen rapid growth.
“Our goal is to support major international events that highlight the diversity and richness of Egypt’s tourism products,” he said, stressing the importance of hosting global competitions that attract participants and audiences from around the world.
Youssef added that holding the festival across multiple archaeological and tourist sites offers participants a rare opportunity to combine aerial sports with direct exposure to Egypt’s ancient heritage and diverse natural attractions.
This blend, he said, enhances Egypt’s appeal for enthusiasts of extreme aerial activities and sports-focused travel.
Cultural Immersion Alongside Sports
As part of the promotional efforts for the event, the Tourism Authority will organize a Nile cruise for participants, offering a scenic experience along the river’s iconic banks — an immersive addition aimed at showcasing Egypt’s cultural and natural beauty.
A Proven Track Record in Global Aerial Events
Sky Sports previously organized the 2018 Paramotor World Championship in Fayoum under the International Paramotor Federation, reinforcing both the company’s expertise and the international community’s confidence in Egypt’s ability to host major global sporting events.
