Dr. Solafa El Goueli Leads Strategic Training Initiative to Empower Egypt’s Healthcare Leadership

Mona Yousef

Strengthening leadership capacity in Egypt’s healthcare sector, Dr. Solafa El Goueli, Executive Director of the National Training Academy (NTA), oversaw the launch of a specialized training program for middle management leaders from the General Authority for Healthcare (GAH).

The initiative, inaugurated in the presence of Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, President of GAH, reflects Egypt’s ongoing efforts to build institutional excellence and empower professionals in critical sectors, in alignment with the country’s Vision 2030 for sustainable development.

Investing in Human Capital for Sustainable Healthcare Reform

At the heart of this collaboration is Dr. El Goueli’s vision for investing in human capital as a foundational pillar of national progress. Under her leadership, the National Training Academy continues to play a transformative role in equipping public sector professionals—including healthcare administrators—with the skills, knowledge, and leadership capacity needed to drive systemic reform.

The newly launched program targets mid-level managers within the healthcare authority, with a focus on enhancing leadership competencies, institutional governance, and strategic thinking—key components of Egypt’s ongoing healthcare modernization under the Universal Health Insurance system.

Building a Culture of Awareness and Public Health Literacy

In parallel with leadership training, Dr. El Goueli and GAH President Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky explored joint initiatives to launch a digital communication platform dedicated to public health awareness. The platform is envisioned to host a wide range of educational and preventive content aimed at enhancing public health literacy, promoting healthy behaviors, and supporting the national goal of preventive care.

This aligns closely with the NTA’s broader mission to engage influential voices and support training for key opinion leaders and public health communicators, ensuring that messages of health and wellness reach diverse audiences across Egypt.

Strengthening International Partnerships and Educational Standards

The collaboration also includes a strategic dimension focused on global benchmarking and exchange of expertise. Discussions are underway to coordinate with leading international bodies such as the International Hospital Federation (IHF) and the American College of Executives, in order to integrate international standards into the training curricula and support continuous professional development.

By incorporating best practices from globally recognized institutions, the NTA under Dr. El Goueli’s leadership is positioning itself as a national hub for executive education and a partner in Egypt’s broader healthcare reform strategy.

Practical Capacity Building

Also present at the event was Dr. Taher Nasr, Deputy Executive Director of the Academy, who emphasized the Academy’s commitment to modernizing training programs in response to market needs and evolving global health priorities. The program’s curriculum will provide practical tools for decision-making, policy implementation, and service delivery across Egypt’s public health institutions.

From the GAH side, several high-level officials attended, including Dr. Hany Rashed, Vice President of the Authority; Dr. Magdy Bakr, Technical Advisor; Dr. Mahmoud El-Deeb, Assistant Executive Director for Planning and Health Mapping; and Dr. Heba Owaida, Director of Training and Development.
