Dr. Maha Helali Recognized as One of the World’s Most Inspiring Figures in Global Inclusion Movement

Dr. Maha Helali, a leading Egyptian advocate for disability rights and inclusive development, has been named one of the most inspiring global figures by Inclusion International during the 18th World Congress titled “We Are Inclusion”, held this week in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.

The announcement comes as a recognition of her exceptional contributions to advancing disability inclusion and social justice, both in Egypt and across the MENA region. The event drew more than 600 participants from 74 countries and over 160 institutions, reflecting the global momentum for inclusive societies.

Dr. Helali is the Founder and President of the Advance Society for Persons with Autism and Other Disabilities, and currently serves as Advisor to Egypt’s Minister of Social Solidarity on Disability Affairs. She is also the official MENA representative for the Inclusion MENA Network.

A National and Global Role Model

In celebration of this prestigious recognition, Egypt’s National Council for Women (NCW), chaired by Counselor Amal Ammar, extended its warmest congratulations to Dr. Helali. The Council praised her as a trailblazer and a powerful voice for persons with disabilities, emphasizing her pioneering efforts in community-based inclusion and rights-based policy advocacy.

“Dr. Maha Helali is a proud and inspiring model of Egyptian women leadership. Her international recognition is a testament to her unwavering commitment to human development and social inclusion,” said Counselor Amal Ammar in an official statement.

Advocating for a More Inclusive World

Throughout her career, Dr. Helali has played a pivotal role in promoting inclusive education, accessibility, and legal reforms for people with disabilities. She has worked closely with governmental bodies, civil society, and international organizations to ensure that inclusion is not just a policy — but a lived reality.

Her recognition by Inclusion International, a global federation working to advance the rights of people with intellectual disabilities and their families, shines a spotlight on the impact of grassroots leadership and collaborative advocacy in transforming communities.
