Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has signed a series of presidential decrees marking significant progress in supporting women’s participation in Egypt’s judiciary and endorsing a major population strategy funded by the European Union.

Presidential Decree No. 447 of 2025 authorized the appointment of a new cohort of Assistant Delegates at the State Council, selected from the 2021 graduates, including a notable number of women. This decision reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to enhancing diversity and empowering female professionals within Egypt’s judicial system.

In addition, Presidential Decree No. 446 of 2025 approved the appointment of 555 Assistant Public Prosecutors from the same graduating class, with women among the appointees. These appointments represent an important step toward rejuvenating the judiciary with young, skilled talent and promoting gender equality in key public sectors.

The inclusion of women in these prestigious roles highlights Egypt’s efforts to support the judiciary by integrating new blood and diverse perspectives, consistent with broader initiatives to foster women’s advancement across government and public institutions.

Alongside these judicial appointments, President El-Sisi approved Decree No. 131 of 2025, ratifying the financial agreement for the European Union’s support of Egypt’s National Population Strategy – Phase Two. This program, funded by a €12 million grant, aims to strengthen Egypt’s population policies through sustainable development measures.

This collaborative effort between Egypt and the European Union underscores the country’s strategic focus on addressing demographic challenges while promoting economic and social progress.

Together, these presidential actions demonstrate Egypt’s dedication to empowering women, strengthening judicial capacities, and advancing population management initiatives — all essential components of the nation’s long-term development vision.
