In a celebration of heritage, craftsmanship, and female empowerment, Counselor Amal Ammar, President of Egypt’s National Council for Women (NCW), toured the vibrant Diarna Handicrafts and Heritage Exhibition, currently being held in Marina 5 under the slogan “Egypt Speaks Craft”.

Accompanied by Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hano, Minister of Culture, and Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar, President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, Ammar visited the two NCW booths, showcasing the creative work of women artisans from across Egypt.

Also present were prominent council members Dr. Suzanne Al-Qeliny, Head of the Media Committee, and Dr. Umm Kulthum Shalash, Deputy Rapporteur of the Cairo Branch, along with other leadership from the Council.

Empowering Women Through Craftsmanship

Expressing admiration for the displays, Counselor Ammar stated “Creativity is the language of the Egyptian woman. The Diarna Exhibition is a living embodiment of women’s economic empowerment, highlighting their enduring ability to innovate and produce.”

The NCW’s participation underscores its commitment to providing visibility, market access, and recognition for women across all governorates working in heritage-based industries.

Preserving Egypt’s Authentic Cultural Identity

Minister of Culture Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hano commended the quality, originality, and professional craftsmanship of the exhibited works, emphasizing the balance between tradition and innovation seen in the women’s handmade products.

Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar echoed this sentiment, expressing pride in the nationally produced goods made by women and applauding the NCW’s training efforts that help preserve Egypt’s authentic cultural identity.

Diverse Display of Egypt’s Handmade Heritage

Visitors to Booths 92 and 93, representing the NCW, were greeted with a rich selection of handcrafted items. The artisans—both women and men—provided detailed explanations of their creative processes, highlighting the skills and stories behind each piece.

The Diarna Exhibition will continue until September 10, 2025, offering an ongoing platform to showcase Egypt’s rich artisanal culture and support women’s economic inclusion.
