Egypt’s Minister of Environment, Dr. Yasmine Fouad, witnessed the signing of a cooperation protocol between the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA) and the Marine Environmental Protection Foundation. The partnership is a key initiative under Egypt’s broader vision for sustainable development and natural resource governance in line with Egypt Vision 2030.
The agreement was signed by Dr. Ali Abou Sena, CEO of the EEAA, and Mohamed Hossam El-Din Abdel Rahim, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Marine Environmental Protection Foundation, with Khaled Raslan, the Foundation’s Executive Director, also present at the ceremony.
New Chapter in Civil Society Collaboration
Minister Fouad affirmed that the agreement reflects the ministry’s firm commitment to fostering impactful collaboration with civil society organizations (CSOs) that demonstrate a serious commitment to environmental stewardship.
These initiatives will be jointly designed and executed, with the EEAA offering technical support and strategic oversight, while the Foundation will handle full financial implementation and community outreach.
Empowering Communities and Ecosystem Resilience
Dr. Fouad highlighted that the Foundation will organize environmental camps, workshops, and awareness campaigns, in addition to initiating community development projects inside protected areas — all designed to elevate living standards while nurturing environmental consciousness.
The Foundation is also committed to promoting volunteerism and building local capacity without imposing financial burdens on the government, reflecting a sustainable, grassroots-driven model of environmental partnership.
Towards a Greener, Inclusive Future
Minister Fouad underscored the ministry’s ongoing strategy to integrate civil society efforts with national environmental objectives. By empowering organizations with a genuine environmental mission, the Ministry aims to establish a collaborative model where government and non-government entities work in tandem to protect natural resources and ensure a cleaner, more resilient Egypt.
This agreement comes at a time when Egypt is intensifying its coastal resilience efforts, expanding marine protected areas, and positioning itself as a regional leader in marine conservation and sustainable development.
