Egypt and France Strengthen Health Sector Cooperation with New Investment Opportunities
Dr. Abla El-Alfy, Deputy Minister of Health and Population, hosted a delegation from the French Employers’ Association “Medef International” at the Ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital. The meeting, which took place as part of the French presidential visit to Cairo, aimed to deepen bilateral cooperation and open new investment avenues within Egypt’s healthcare sector.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, emphasized that the meeting reflected the Egyptian leadership’s strong commitment to healthcare development and the state’s determination to attract foreign investments, particularly in critical sectors. He added that Egypt has already implemented a set of new laws designed to stimulate investment, creating a business environment aligned with the goals of sustainable development.
The discussions centered on training and capacity-building, with a focus on programs aimed at enhancing the skills of medical personnel to improve healthcare service quality. Additionally, they explored opportunities for cooperation in areas such as digital transformation, telemedicine, governance, and investment in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
The meeting also covered scientific research, healthcare technology innovations, and public health objectives, highlighting Egypt’s progress in local vaccine production and its steps toward digital transformation. The country’s national database, linked to major health initiatives, was also showcased as a key asset for future health sector development.
The “Medef International” delegation expressed confidence in Egypt’s investment climate and France’s commitment to investing in the Egyptian market. They praised the country’s efforts to develop its healthcare sector and expressed their eagerness to deepen the healthcare partnership between the two nations, expanding knowledge exchange and medical expertise between Cairo and Paris.
The meeting received Dr. Hisham Badr, Deputy Chairman of the Egyptian Unified Procurement Authority, Dr. Mohamed Abdel Fattah, Head of the Medical Professions Development Sector, Dr. Rasha El-Sharkawy, Head of the Central Strategic Administration, Dr. Dalia Rashid, Director of Grants and Loans Administration, and Dr. Ahmed Eissa, Consultant at the General Authority for Comprehensive Health Insurance.
This meeting underscores Egypt’s ongoing efforts to enhance international cooperation and attract foreign investments in the healthcare sector, ultimately contributing to the development of infrastructure and the improvement of medical services for its citizens.
