A Collaborative Approach to Child Welfare

She emphasized that the initiative focuses on one of the most important areas for the Egyptian state—children’s welfare. By investing in children, Sarofim stated, Egypt is investing in its future, creating generations that will contribute meaningfully to the country’s growth and development.
The Deputy Minister further underscored the role of child-focused investment in driving social mobility. She highlighted its connection to multiple sectors, including education, health, and culture. The integration of efforts between government and civil society, Sarofim noted, has the potential to achieve tangible developmental outcomes, especially when supported by community engagement and a commitment to sustainability.
Ministry of Social Solidarity’s Ongoing Support for Children
Eng. Sarofim outlined several initiatives spearheaded by the Ministry of Social Solidarity aimed at supporting children, including the “Mawada” initiative for marriage preparation, the “First 1,000 Days of a Child’s Life” program, and initiatives for early childhood development. Additionally, the Ministry’s economic empowerment programs and efforts to raise awareness around social issues contribute to a comprehensive approach to child welfare.
She also noted the significant progress made by civil society organizations, particularly with the backing of political leadership, which recognizes their pivotal role in achieving sustainable development. The Deputy Minister expressed confidence that the “Karima Village for Children” initiative, beginning in Mahdiyah Village, Beheira, will serve as a strong starting point for the Hayah Karima Foundation to extend this model nationwide, ultimately ensuring a better future for Egypt’s children.
Hayah Karima Foundation’s Commitment to Sustainable Development
Amb. Nabila Makram, Executive Director of the National Alliance for Civil Development Work, expressed her appreciation for the launch of this important initiative. She emphasized the foundation’s mission to provide dignified living conditions through its various programs.

The initiative aims to create a secure and nurturing environment for children by addressing social challenges, promoting awareness of children’s rights, and fostering creativity and innovation. The first phase of the project will be implemented in Mahdiyah Village in Beheira, where efforts will focus on providing essential health, education, cultural, and social services, as well as supporting families through economic empowerment programs.
