The IGU Council meeting brought together representatives from Asia, Europe, Africa, Latin America, and Oceania, with countries such as China, Canada, Qatar, Slovakia, Thailand, Malaysia, Turkey, the USA, and the UK participating. This diverse assembly highlighted the global reach and significance of the IGU, offering a platform for strategic discussions, networking, and collaboration focused on the future of the gas industry.
Strengthening Egypt’s Partnerships with IGU Members
Throughout the meeting, the Egyptian Gas Association worked to strengthen its relationships with IGU members, leading to the signing of two key Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs). The first MoU with the Korea Gas Union focuses on enhancing information exchange, networking, and supporting global gas events, while the second MoU with Oman LNG Development Foundation aims to foster joint events, corporate social responsibility initiatives, and sustainability efforts.
A Historic Presidential Election and Egypt’s Leadership Role
Tgypt emerged victorious in the election, with Eng. Khaled Abubakr, Chairman of the Egyptian Gas Association, set to become the IGU President for the 2028-2031 term.
