Angie Elyamani, National Director of the Financial Inclusion Program, underscored the Egyptian state’s commitment to combatting climate change, highlighting initiatives like the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects and the Presidential Initiative for African Women.
Dr. Khaled Mustafa, Technical Advisor to the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects, emphasized the initiative’s success in fostering women’s leadership in climate action. He praised the National Council for Women’s efforts in raising awareness and empowering women to participate in green projects.
Samira Rashwan, an expert in public policy and sustainable development, shed light on the disproportionate impact of climate change on women. She highlighted women’s resilience and their crucial role in responding to environmental disasters.
Ahmed Adel discussed the National Council for Women’s collaboration with Banque Misr on projects like “Tahweesha,” which trained women in banking transactions. Dr. Mustafa Zamzam shared the Good Makers Foundation’s efforts to establish sustainability centers and support women’s economic empowerment through traditional crafts and creative industries.
Dr. Mona Toman, an award-winning innovator, showcased her project “3D Cutter through Recycling Electronic Waste,” highlighting the potential for women to contribute to sustainable solutions.
The panel discussion underscored the importance of women’s leadership in addressing climate change and the need for continued support and empowerment.
