Egypt’s Minister of Local Development Manal Awad revealed that the ministry is implementing presidential directives to streamline building regulations across all governorates. The new measures, which follow recent simplifications for building permit issuance, are part of the government’s ongoing efforts to make it easier for citizens to interact with government agencies.

During a press conference on Saturday, Awad emphasized the government’s commitment to “Serving the Citizen” by simplifying procedures related to various laws and addressing citizen complaints. She highlighted the ministry’s collaboration with the United Media Services Company on a major media campaign to educate citizens about the new law on building violations and reconciliation. The campaign, set to launch in September, will use print, broadcast, and social media to inform citizens about the benefits and facilitation measures of the new law and encourage them to submit reconciliation requests.

Awad also provided updates on the progress of the presidential initiative “Hayah Karima” (Decent Life), announcing that a significant number of projects under the first phase have been completed. While the second phase of the initiative is underway, the ministry is working to finalize necessary documents and create a unified map with all relevant authorities.

In addition to these initiatives, Awad announced a recent reshuffle in local administration and the completion of interviews for 91 leadership positions within the ministry. She also highlighted the ministry’s ongoing efforts to train local administration staff and combat corruption.

The Minister reiterated her commitment to expanding technology centers across all governorates as part of the government’s digital transformation project. These centers aim to provide services to citizens in a more streamlined and efficient manner and reduce the time required for service delivery.
