According to press reports, Israel killed two Lebanese journalists along with several civilians in the south of Lebanon in the Tair Harfa area yesterday.
Farah Omar, a correspondent for al-Mayadeen television, and Rabih Maamari, a cameraman, were the two journalists.
The deaths of three citizens, two journalists, and another civilian in the enemy bombing of the Tair Harfa area were reported by the Lebanese National News Agency (NNA).
The third civilian victim was a “contributor” to the channel, according to statements by Al-Mayadeen director Ghassan bin Jiddo,
In an interview with the channel, bin Jiddo stressed that the attack was no accident, he stated: It was a direct attack; it was not by chance.”
He added that this month’s decision by the Israeli government to restrict access to al-Mayadeen’s website preceded the strike.
Nearly a week had passed since Israel attacked a group of reporters covering events in real-time from the border town of Yaroun in Bint Jbeil.
Israeli strikes in October claimed the life of Reuters videographer Issam Abdallah and left six other journalists from Al Jazeera, AFP, and Reuters injured.
Palestinian journalists have long been the target of targeted killings by Israel. The Israeli military declared that it was “investigating the specifics” of the event.
