The National Council for Women organized a 2-day training course on “Gender Equality, targeting female workers at EMCO Tourism Company, within the framework of the project “Supporting the creation of a safe work environment for women in the tourism sector in Egypt” implemented by the Council in cooperation with the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the Spanish Agency for international cooperation for development in Egypt.
The training reviewed the role of the Women’s Complaints Office and the services it provides, the concept of violence against women, its types, mechanisms for confronting it, methods of reporting, and the referral process.
Project Manager, Ms. Safaa Habib, reviewed the role of the National Council for Women, the objectives of the tourism project, and the activities it includes targeting male and female workers in the tourism sector to achieve a safe work environment.
As for Ms. Samah Helmy, the project expert, she presented the basic concepts of gender equality, social roles, and the concepts of empowerment and gender equality in the field of work, and Mr. Mark Samuel, the training and leadership consultant, reviewed the concept and levels of leadership and the principles of recognizing inclusive leadership
On her part, Ms. Kholoud Saleem, an expert in training and institutional culture, explained the concept of institutional culture and its characteristics that support the empowerment of women
The training course concluded with the distribution of certificates of honor to female and male hotel workers.
