Last Sunday, Osama Abdel Hay, the head of the Doctors Syndicate, told the press that 2,000 Egyptian doctors had volunteered to help in Gaza and that 800 had already received training from the Egyptian Red Crescent.
According to Abdel Hay, the syndicate communicated with the Palestinian side and discovered that the specializations required are surgery, orthopedics, anesthesia, cardiology, and neurology.
Dr. Naeema Al-Gasseer, the WHO Representative in Egypt, claimed in a phone call that 64% of healthcare facilities in the Gaza Strip were out of service, while seven major hospitals received evacuation notices.
On October 21, the Egyptian Doctors Syndicate launched registration for physicians who want to volunteer in Gaza hospitals. The volunteers were separated into groups, and training began on October 23.
The UNRWA stated in its most recent situation report, released on Friday, that eight of its 22 health centers in Gaza are still operational in the Middle Area, Khan Younis, and Rafah, and that 3,950 patients received basic medical services on October 26.
Furthermore, the group established 95 mobile medical units and medical teams, which served 9,900 people in shelters.
