Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Dr. Hala Al-Saeed, participated in the opening of the art exhibition by artist Dr. Soheir Othman, held at the Mahmoud Mukhtar Museum under the title “Al Asala wal Moaasara”, which translates to (Originality and Contemporary).
Al-Saeed stressed that the importance of handicrafts lies in how they highlight aspects of Egyptian identity and express the cultural heritage that must be preserved and promoted, both in Egypt and worldwide.
Moreover, the Minister underlined the Egyptian state’s interest in supporting purposeful art that is the basis for Egypt’s soft power at the regional and international levels.
It is noteworthy that artist Soheir Othman’s exhibition includes about 80-100 different works of art in fields of graphics, computer graphics, drawing, batik, printed textile hangings, tent hangings, kilims, handmade carpets, and collages, all of which are entirely handmade.
