News Agencies

Visa and Western Union (WU) have signed a seven-year agreement allowing WU customers to receive money from their loved ones and friends in 40 countries across five regions through eligible cards and bank accounts.

The agreement involves:

  • The issuance of cards.
  • Integration of services provided by WU into Visa Direct service.
  • Provision of value-added services such as risk products.

In select markets, WU customers will also have access to Visa prepaid cards, which connect the physical and digital worlds.

The partnership also aims to develop disbursement programs to assist humanitarian organizations and governments deliver essential funds during disasters.

This agreement builds on WU’s previous integrations into Visa Direct in 2019 and 2022. It enables customers in the US and Europe to send and receive money directly to and from eligible Visa cardholders abroad.
