Head of the Cultural Committee at the Union of Palestinian Women’s Committee (UPWC), Sonia Abbas, stressed that Palestinian women are a symbol of strength, resilience, and responsibility and it is why they are targeted by the occupation.

Upon sensing danger, at the beginning of the last century, Women founded the Arab Women Union in 1921 to stand up against the occupation by organizing demonstrations and protests against the British High Commissioner for forced displacement and facilitating the transfer of lands to Jews.

Abbas added during her interview with TV Presenter Dalia Ashraf on the DMC channel that women participated in the Great Palestinian Revolution of 1936 by organizing, demonstrating, and helping the revolutionaries so the Israeli occupation targets Palestinian women as they are known to be the basis of struggle and resistance, in addition to spreading the love of the land and the pride of the Palestinian identity.

She went on to confirm that Palestinian women are the essence of resistance, and the union’s message is to empower women in all fields to qualify them to defend their cause and have their voices heard throughout the entire world.
