Representatives from 20 UNESCO member states recently paid a special visit to the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), which is under construction, on the sidelines of their trip to Egypt. The 20 member states include including Bahrain, Uruguay, China, United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Bangladesh, Chile, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Lebanon, Liberia, Libya, Malaysia, Malta, Mauritius, Oman, Syria, Tanzania, and Uganda. This visit coincided with their interest in the Egyptian Knowledge Bank initiative, a program aimed at improving the global recognition of Egyptian universities and research institutions.
The delegates were further immersed in Egypt’s rich history. The representatives expressed their satisfaction with the program organized for their stay in Egypt, particularly their visit to the GEM.
Separately, Higher Education Minister, Ayman Ashour, met with the delegation at the ministry’s headquarters. He underscored the importance of the Egyptian Knowledge Bank initiative and its potential to elevate the international ranking of Egyptian universities, research centers, and institutions.
This cultural exchange signifies a positive step towards international collaboration in both heritage preservation, as seen in the GEM, and advancements in scientific research, embodied by the Egyptian Knowledge Bank initiative.
