The Egyptian Civil Service has launched its First Government AI Chatbot “KMT”

The Central Agency for Organization and Administration (CAOA) has recently launched a new Artificial Intelligence-powered system called “KMT” in the New Administrative Capital. This system is designed to provide accurate and well-documented information related to civil service legislation and the services offered by CAOA.

The primary aim of this system is to cater to the needs of civil servants and the general public by answering their queries in a timely and efficient manner. The system is expected to be a valuable addition to the existing infrastructure and improve the overall quality of service provided by CAOA.

CAOA has successfully developed a project called “KMT” with the backing of the USAID Economic Governance Activity. In an effort to bolster Egyptian entrepreneurship, an Egyptian startup company that specializes in information technology was specifically selected to execute this project.

The Egyptian civil service has launched an AI-based chatbot named “KMT” to cater to the needs of its citizens. KMT is designed to operate 24/7 and answer more than 50,000 legal and administrative queries related to civil service legislation and executive regulations. This initiative will provide an easy and efficient solution to the citizens, allowing them to access the required information at their convenience.

KMT promptly analyzes the posed inquiries and provides immediate responses via the official website of the CAOA or through the Agency’s WhatsApp and Facebook applications.

The USAID Economic Governance Activity has extended its support to the KMT Chatbot as a part of its overarching objective to bolster the administrative and institutional development of the Egyptian civil service. This support is in alignment with the national objectives outlined in Egypt’s Vision 2030, the National Anti-Corruption Strategy 2023-2030, and the Administrative Reform Vision of Egypt.

The launch of KMT in Egypt was recently commented on by the Director of the Mission of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). It was highlighted that the partnership between the United States and Egypt has been longstanding and has continued to flourish over the past century.

The development of KMT was made possible by the innovative work of “Widebot,” an Egyptian start-up company. This is a significant investment by the American people in Egyptian companies, and represents an important element within the strong Egyptian-American partnership.

The USAID Economic Governance Activity is committed to supporting the Egyptian government’s efforts towards enhancing the quality of public administration. In this regard, the adoption of inclusive and efficient tools such as KMT is a significant step towards ensuring that the needs and priorities of the citizens are taken into consideration.

By facilitating better communication and interaction between the government and citizens, KMT is instrumental in enhancing citizen satisfaction with government services while also promoting transparency and access to information.
