TEC: 16 Egyptian Companies to Participate in the “Heimtextil” Fair in Germany

The Textile Export Council of Egypt (TEC) said Tuesday that 16 Egyptian companies are taking part in the international trade fair for home and contract textiles, “Heimtextil” held in Frankfurt, Germany, on January 10-13.

According to the Council’s statement, the fair is considered the biggest gathering of producers, manufacturers, and exporters of home textile worldwide.

Heimtextil could very well serve as a gate through which exporters can seal new deals, especially in light of hardships facing them due to fierce competition from Southeast Asian markets, the Covid-19 pandemic, and the Russian-Ukrainian war, read the statement.

Textile is a strategic sector in Egypt because it is a labor-intensive industry, with two-thirds of Egyptian workers (some 2.5 million) in the field, the TEC stated. It added that women contribute to 70% of the workforce in the textile sector.

It is one of the sectors planned to undergo structural reforms as part of Egypt’s 2030 vision, which is meant to increase the private sector’s contribution to the gross domestic product (GDP), the statement confirmed.

As a leading global trade fair, Heimtextil maps market changes with its focus themes on a range of products for interior designers and hospitality experts. It is the number one trend platform for textile materials and textile design.
