Today, July 13th, Cairo is hosting a summit conference of Sudan’s neighbors to examine measures to end the ongoing conflict in the country and the negative repercussions it is having on its immediate neighbors and the security and stability of the entire region.
The conference seeks to take steps towards solving the crisis, stopping the bloodshed, and sparing the Sudanese people the negative impacts of the conflict, in addition to curbing the grave impact on neighboring countries, as well as regional security and stability.
Today’s summit also aims to help preserve the Sudanese state and its potential.
The move to host such inportant summit comes in light of the ongoing crisis in Sudan reflecting President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s keenness on drafting a common vision for the countries neighboring Sudan, Presidency Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said earlier this week.
It will also seek to develop effective mechanisms with the participation of Sudan’s neighboring countries to find a peaceful settlement of the conflict in coordination with other regional and international tracks chasing after the same goal, the Egyptian Presidency spokesman noted.
Sudanese writer and researcher Magdi Abdel Aziz highlighted the official and popular welcome in the Sudan of the Cairo Summit.
Moreover, he shared an official statement by the Sudanese people to look positively to the Egyptian initiative, noting that the warring parties in the country have always spoken with the same positiveness about Cairo’s role in Sudan.
