Financial independence is taking center stage in the Sharqia Governorate as part of a nationwide push to empower Egyptian families. Governor Hazem El-Ashmouni recently reaffirmed that social and economic empowerment for women is a pivotal pillar of the National Project for the Development of the Egyptian Family. By fostering financial awareness, especially within the villages of the “” (Decent Life) presidential initiative, the governorate aims to provide women with the tools to stabilize their households and improve their long-term standard of living.
Dr. Aida Attia, Rapporteur of the National Council for Women (NCWC) branch in Sharqia, detailed the success of the council’s latest efforts. The branch successfully implemented seven specialized financial literacy workshops, benefiting 210 women and girls across the districts of Kafr Saqr, El Ibrahimiya, Abu Kabir, and Hehia. This initiative is part of an integrated strategy designed to build the capacities of local women, helping them manage their personal and household resources with newfound confidence and skill.

The training program focused on several high-impact themes, teaching participants how to make sound financial decisions that secure their economic futures. Beyond basic budgeting, the workshops encouraged a culture of savings and strategic planning. By mastering these skills, women in Sharqia are now better positioned to launch small businesses and participate in the local economy, turning financial knowledge into sustainable income streams and lasting independence.
