PM Madbouly: Egypt to Build 200,000 – 250,000 New Hotel Rooms to Accommodate More Tourists & Boost Tourism

Egypt aims to attract 30 million tourists by 2028. Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly mentioned during the cabinet’s meeting in New Alamein that the country is working on constructing 200,000-250,000 new hotel rooms to achieve this goal.

Madbouly emphasized the significant role of the tourism sector, which is a priority for the government’s development and reform program. This program targets various sectors, including tourism, industry, agriculture, communications, and information technology.

Furthermore, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan ElKhatib has instructed officials to attract more investors to expedite the establishment and operation of the required hotel rooms. Additionally, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy highlighted the importance of having catalysts that support tourism in various areas and connecting these places to entertainment destinations.

According to the SIS website, ElKhatib expressed a commitment to collaborating with other ministers to promote comprehensive tourism opportunities. Moreover, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Sherif El-Sherbiny announced new investment opportunities in the hospitality sector in New Alamein City and other Egyptian cities, including plans to add thousands of hotel rooms in different locations.

Moreover, there are proposals to expand the number of hotel rooms in new cities under the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA) and the Tourism Development Authority (TDA).
