PM Inaugurates Plant for Producing Vaccines, Biological Products
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli on Saturday 28/01/2023 opened the BioGeneric Pharma plant for producing vaccines and biological products on the 10th of Ramadan City.
According to BioGeneric Pharma Chairman Mohamed Rabie, the factory will be completed in 2022 and will be equipped with cutting-edge manufacturing and analytical tools to accommodate modern technologies in the production of vaccines and biopharmaceuticals.
He added that the Biogeneric Pharma is built on 20,000 square meters with a large green area for future expansions.
The plant has three primary manufacturing sectors, Rabie said.
The first manufacturing zone on 1,500 square meters uses the most advanced single-use systems and is equipped to cope with MRNA technology in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO).
According to him, the WHO has chosen the company to receive modern MRNA technology for producing vaccines, therapeutic proteins, and immunoglobulins specialized in treating various types of cancer, establishing Biogeneric Pharma as a regional hub for this advanced industry in Egypt for the benefit of Africa and all low- and middle-income countries.
The facility also has 1200-square meter quality control laboratories that are outfitted with cutting-edge analytical and quality control technology, the chairman said.
He added that an e-monitoring system completely controls the humidity and temperature of the whole facility to meet international guidelines for keeping vaccinations and biological products.
Biogeneric Pharma aims to achieve self-sufficiency in serums, vaccines, and biological products to lower reliance on imported products and boost export opportunities in various African and worldwide markets, Rabie concluded.
