Bisan Owda, a Palestinian journalist, activist, and filmmaker from Gaza, has officially been nominated for a News & Documentary Emmy for her work on the series “It’s Bisan from Gaza, I’m Still Alive” with AJ+.
Her series is not just a documentation of her daily life in Gaza; it’s a powerful narrative that shines a light on the challenges faced by the Palestinian people, especially since October 7th of last year, and has resonated with many.
The News & Documentary Emmy Awards winners are scheduled to be announced at the end of September.
In addition to the Emmy nomination, Owda previously won a Peabody Award for the same series in June.
Before the war, Bisan used to post light videos about beautiful cities, different foods, and occupations; her positive outlook on Gazan culture has gained wide recognition in her country. Her recognition has become global since the beginning of the war last year, making her one of the most talented upcoming Journalists, not just in Palestine but internationally.
