Egypt has successfully secured a significant deal worth USD 500 million (EGP 15.4 bln) with the esteemed Abu Dhabi Exports Office (ADEX) to support its vital wheat imports over the course of five years. This agreement will provide a much-needed boost to Egypt’s agricultural sector and ensure that the nation can continue to meet the demands of its populace for this vital staple food.
The deal was secured, in attendance of Minister of International Cooperation, Dr. Rania Al Mashat, following talks with the UAE in July. The funds will be used to pay for imports from both Abu-Dhabi-based agricultural company Al Dahra and ADEX.
The full amount will be dispersed in five installments of USD 100 million (EGP 3 bln) each over five years.
The financing package offered to Egypt by ADEX provides high-quality products at a low price and with a reasonable payment plan, according to Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Ali Al-Moselhy.
Egypt is expected to benefit from the five-year $500 million financing offered by the UAE to supply the country with wheat in January 2024, Asharq Business reported, citing Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Ali Moselhy.
Moselhy further noted that the deal is pending the parliament’s approval, expecting it to be endorsed in November.

In addition, they also inspected an exhibition of Arabic calligraphy created by the Khudair Al-Borsaidi School of Arabic Calligraphy and Decoration.
Dr. Nevin Al-Kilani stated in her speech: Today, as Egypt celebrates, in partnership with UNESCO, the twentieth anniversary of the Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage, the Ministry of Culture inaugurates the “Heritage House” to complete a series of heritage preservation sessions and carry out its assigned mission.

Study Shows Social Media Platforms Improved Egyptian Females’ Responses To Domestic Violence
During the COVID-19 lockdown in Egypt, many women who were experiencing domestic violence had access to social media platforms. This enabled them to learn about resources and support that could help them deal with the abuse. In 2015, 36% of married Egyptian women aged between 15 and 49 reported experiencing domestic violence.
A new study published in “Nature Human Behavior” found that receiving videos and reminders during the pandemic increased media consumption about domestic violence against women, thereby increasing women’s knowledge of available resources and their willingness to seek help.
The study was conducted in collaboration with the Egyptian Center for Women’s Rights in Cairo, and researchers surveyed 10,000 women via Facebook, with 5,618 women enrolled in the trial from July to September 2020. Participants were aged between 18 and 55, and the study was conducted to evaluate the effects of the “You Are Not Alone” media campaign’s publication.
The study’s authors sent video clips and reminders to watch TV programs by an Egyptian human rights lawyer that focused on her work on gender stereotypes and violence to a sample of Egyptian women recruited via Facebook and WhatsApp. Over the course of eight weeks, participants in three groups were sent thirteen messages via Facebook or WhatsApp that contained links to a website that posted YouTube videos. Personalized WhatsApp messages had the most significant effect on how many people watched shows.
The targeted intervention’s content was the information offered by the Egyptian lawyer in the films that addressed issues of domestic abuse and gender-based violence. The study showed that only 28% of women who had been polled before the trial were aware of any internet resources, and only 22% of them were aware of any groups that helped women who were victims of gender-based violence.
The study’s co-author emphasized that the experiment only included women for two reasons. The first was that the Egyptian Center’s content mainly focused on women, and the second was to protect women from being subjected to online harassment if they were included in mixed-sex groups. However, participating in the trial, learning about available resources, and viewing encouraging information did not alter the participants’ underlying attitudes regarding women’s place in society.

“Innovation and sustainable technology are to the fore when it comes to our broadcast delivery at the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino during a tour of the International Broadcast Centre (IBC) in Sydney.
“The IBC is the center for video content from all venues in Australia and New Zealand, and for all 64 matches, we have been setting new standards in sports broadcasting thanks to our fully remote live match and non-live production,” the FIFA President added. “This innovation is a step forward from the men’s FIFA World Cup in Qatar, and something new to sports on such a scale. This is also a new, more sustainable technological approach which has helped deliver the FIFA Women’s World Cup to a global audience.”
In order to bridge the gap between analytics and entertainment and to improve the viewing experience for fans, FIFA has also engaged the concept of “datatainment”, which seamlessly integrates advanced analytics with real-time graphics based on the official optical tracking data at each FIFA Women’s World Cup stadium. As an overlay on live feeds, “datatainment” provides fans with unparalleled insight and enjoyment, with several Media Rights Licensees having taken advantage of the technology during the tournament.
“Football is more than just a game; it’s a passion that connects millions of fans worldwide. Together with our partners, we are redefining the fan experience by leveraging the power of data and technology to integrate analytics into an entertainment package, as well as offering fans new ways of consuming football through social media,” said FIFA’s Chief Business Officer, Romy Gai.
Responding to the growing trend in consuming candid, backstage moments, the tournament in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand has also seen digital-first coverage of every game. Captured in vertical video formats and from a unique perspective, the content allows fans following FIFA’s pages on social media to experience the raw emotion of players and fans filter‑free. Such clips have also been distributed to broadcasters and tailored for their social media accounts, thereby providing unique coverage of the competition globally.
“Thanks to the collaboration with the participating teams we have access to exclusive content behind the scenes – on the pitch or in the locker room after the match, players have shown their willingness to produce unique content at the peak of their emotions in cooperation with our media rights licensees. We are thrilled to have used this ground‑breaking tournament to bring these concepts to life and allow fans all over the world to further experience and share their excitement for the FIFA Women’s World Cup,” added Mr. Gai.
