Dr. Maya Morsi, President of the National Council for Women, participated (in a recorded speech) in the opening activities of the second session of the Empower Her Art Forum, which is hosted by the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization and continues until May 22nd.
The President of the Council expressed her happiness at participating in the Forum’s activities. She offered her sincere congratulations on the success of the first session’s activities and welcomed Egypt’s distinguished male and female guests.
Dr. Maya Morsy confirmed that the National Council for Women’s sponsorship of this distinguished Forum for the second year in a row comes from the belief in the important role of art in highlighting women’s issues and enhancing their efforts toward achieving their rights and consecrating their position in society, as the Forum seeks to achieve the fifth goal of the sustainable development goals through supporting and empowering women through fine art, as well as caring for them as pioneers of this art by displaying the creative works of great women in fine art.
She continued: Art is a universal language that crosses borders and has always been a means of achieving progress and renaissance in societies, in addition to its influential role in preserving history and identity and eliminating negative ideas that hinder the achievement of this progress.
The President of the Council added that the history of Egyptian plastic art is full of the creations of great female artists, of whom we are all proud. I mention among them the creative women Angie Efflatoun, Jazibia Serry, Effat Nagy, Margaret Nakhla, Tahia Halim, Zeinab Abdel Hamid, Zeinab Al-Sijini, and many others who played a prominent role in highlighting the essence of women’s and society’s issues through fine art. They presented different visions of Egyptian and human society in various artistic works.
