NCW: Palestinian Women’s Resilience is a Testament to Women’s Ability to Face Challenge

Dr. Rania Yahya, Rapporteur of the Arts and Literature Committee of the National Council for Women, said that the steadfastness of Palestinian women in the face of this hardship is the greatest evidence of women’s ability to face any challenge and stand up to any obstacles, no matter how great they are.

Her remarks came during the ceremony announcing the awards of the “Lady of Al-Aqsa: Steadfastness and Struggle” competition, which was organized by the Council in cooperation with the Higher Institute of Art Criticism and the Syndicate of Fine Artists, in the presence of Dr. Ghada Ghabara, President of the Academy, Dr. Hesham Gamal, Vice President of the Academy, and Dr. Safia Al-Qabbani, President of the Fine Artists Syndicate and Head of the Jury, at the headquarters of the Academy of Arts.

During her speech, Dr. Rania Yahya praised the results of the competition, which included artistic works about the “Palestinian cause” and the suffering faced by Palestinian women, explaining that this competition was judged by a committee composed of artistic and academic figures characterized by objectivity and neutrality.

For her part, Dr. Safia Al-Qabbani, the head of the Fine Artists Syndicate, praised all the participating works, whether the winners or those who did not win, stressing that they won by being displayed in the exhibition, explaining that most of the works submitted were distinguished, and all the artistic works came as a tribute to the martyrs of Palestine.

The ceremony included the opening of the “Lady of Al-Aqsa: Steadfastness and Struggle” exhibition, which contains the artistic works of the competition’s participants, including paintings and sculptures. Dr. Ghada Jabara, President of the Academy of Arts, gave a detailed description of some of the paintings and sculptures displayed in the exhibition.

Maryam Nabil won first place in the field of drawing, Christine Sobhi Muharab won second place, Safiya Yahya Hassan won second place, Sara Abdel Fattah Mohamed Qandeel won third place, and Kanzy Emad El-Din, Fatima Ayman Fawzy, and Maryam Mohamed Abdel Aziz won third place.

In the field of drilling, Abeer Adel Ali Muhammad won first place, Nahed Faraj Abdel Qader won second place, and Mona Maher Muhammad Ibrahim won third place.

In the field of sculpture, Dr. Ihab Abdullah Youssef won first place. In oil painting, Reham Mahmoud Ibrahim won first place, Reem Ahmed Ali won second place, Sara Ahmed Hamdan won third place, and Ziad Ayman Abdullah won third place.
