The activities of the second phase of the “National Program for Women in Leadership” implemented by the National Council for Women in cooperation with the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (the training arm of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development), and in partnership with the European Union in Egypt, begin targeting 150 women who hold senior and middle management positions in 34 governmental, judicial and academic agencies in the country and continues over 4 days.
In her speech during the opening session, Dr. Naglaa Al-Adly, Director General of the International Cooperation and External Communications Department of the Council, praised the fruitful cooperation between the Council, the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development, the International Center for Training and Experts, and the European Union, and emphasized the boom that Egypt witnessed in the Tamkeen file for women locally and internationally during the past years, and reviewed Egypt’s efforts made during the past years in the file of women’s empowerment.
Dr. Naglaa Al-Adly also praised the success of training the first batch of the program last year, the positive feedback from the trainees and partner agencies, and the success stories of the trainees during and after the training, wishing the success of the second batch, and that the program would serve as a starting point for the trainees in their practical lives, enabling them to assume the highest leadership positions.
While Dr. Rehab Farrag, Director General of Human Capacity Development and Development at the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development, delivered a speech on behalf of Dr. Sharifa Sherif, Executive Director of the Institute, during which she expressed her happiness at the launch of the second batch of the program, and in the ongoing partnership with the National Council for Women, which was launched in In 2017, through various programs, by inviting all current and promising women leaders to attend the second stage, she emphasized that Egyptian women enjoy great support from the political leadership, stressing the need to take advantage of this golden opportunity to obtain more rights and empower women.
Mrs. Anis Al-Ayari, Chief Technical Adviser at the International Labor Organization office in Egypt, saluted the National Council for Women for its distinguished efforts over the past years and the achievements made for Egyptian women and the gains they have reached, praising the financial inclusion program, as the program started two and a half years ago and dozens of people have benefited from it. Thousands of women in Egypt praised the success of the first batch of the program last year and expressed their confidence in the success of the second batch.

It is noteworthy that the program is one of the main components of the project “Increasing Women’s Participation in Public Life in Egypt”, with the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development and in partnership with the European Union.
The philosophy of this program is based on benefiting from international and European experiences in implementing capacity-building activities and developing leadership skills for women through cooperation with the International Training Center of the International Labor Organization.
This program also aims to enhance women’s performance and their assumption of leadership positions and support the concept of leadership that takes into account gender equality and women’s empowerment by focusing on developing leadership skills and personal characteristics of women, skills for making and implementing public policies and results-based management, and training in the use of tools and techniques to mainstream The perspective of gender equality at work and women’s empowerment, and planning policies responsive to women’s needs.
At the end of the program, the program aims to train 300 women who hold senior and middle management positions in government and academic agencies in the country.
