NCW head says misconceptions should be changed to ensure women’s empowerment
President of the National Council for Women (NCW) Maya Morsi stressed the importance of changing misconceptions and behaviors as the main factor to ensure women’s empowerment and gender equality.
Morsi reviewed Egypt’s achievements, policies, laws, and protection measures to end violence against women at a World Bank meeting on policies to end violence against women.
The National Strategy for the Elimination of Violence against Women 2015-2020 was a landmark for Egypt aiming to pave the way for an inclusive full-fledged approach to coordinate and consolidate all the concerned stakeholders’ efforts of ending violence against women, Morsi told the participants via video-conference.
Egypt has also launched the National Strategy for the Empowerment of Egyptian Women 2030, which is based on four main axes: political, economic, and empowerment, as well as adopting measures to protect women from all forms of violence, she added.
