NCW: 11.5 M Beneficiaries of the Council’s Activities and Programs in 2022

The NCW prepared a detailed report on the achievements made for women and the initiatives and programs launched by the Council throughout 2022, in light of the Council’s keenness to work on empowering Egyptian women in various fields, especially economic empowerment. The total number of beneficiaries from the Council’s programs and activities exceeded 11.5 million beneficiaries from both sexes in 2022.

In recent years, the Arab Republic of Egypt has witnessed remarkable positive progress in supporting and empowering women and gender equality due to the political will to support women’s issues.

The report issued by the Council reviews the initiatives and programs launched by the Council and adopted throughout the year and implemented in cooperation with partner agencies in light of the 2030 Women Empowerment Strategy.

It also shows the activities implemented by the Council within the National Project for Family Development launched by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and implemented by the Council and several ministries and bodies to improve the life quality of Egyptian citizens and the development of population characteristics.

Among the campaigns implemented by the Council also during the year 2022, for example, is a media campaign to raise awareness of the issue of violence against women and the importance of combating it, and a media campaign entitled “We are with you” that was launched in the form of a series of dramatic cartoon episodes inspired by real stories from the files of the Women’s Complaints Office in the Council. and the “Protect her from FGM” campaign.

In addition, the report sheds light on the initiatives empowering the Egyptian girl, sponsored by Mrs. Intisar Al-Sisi, the President’s wife, on International Women’s Day, March 8, 2022. The initiatives investing in Egyptian girls were titled “Noura” and “Dawy”.

Moreover, it referred to the efforts of the NCW within the framework of the axis of economic empowerment. It is one of the main objectives that the Council is working on within the axes of the National Strategy for the Empowerment of Egyptian Women 2030, where the financial and digital inclusion program “Digital Savings and Lending Projects – Tahwesha” was launched targeting the governorates of the Republic.

The report additionally points out what the Council witnessed in 2022, from the launch of several media awareness campaigns by the Council, such as videos, and documentaries to raise awareness of Egyptian women’s issues, and to document its efforts, which included the “Women are the key to life” campaign that dealt with many issues affecting the Egyptian family, voiced by Dr. Ali Gomaa, the former Grand Mufti of Egypt and a member of the Council of Senior Scholars of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, and Ms. Nashwa Al-Houfi, a journalist and a member of the NCW. It was broadcast daily for six months on various radio stations.
