Ministry of Tourism: Cairo Selected as the Tourism Capital for the (OIC) For 2026

The Ministry of Tourism has announced that Cairo has been selected as the tourism capital for the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for the year 2026.

During the ongoing preparatory sessions in Uzbekistan, an announcement was made regarding the participation of a delegation from the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities. The delegation, led by Deputy Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for Tourism Affairs Ghada Shalabi, actively engaged in the sessions.

The meetings are intended to lay the groundwork for the gathering of tourism ministers from the OIC member states scheduled for June.

According to MENA minister of Tourism and Antiquities Ahmed Issa expressed his appreciation for Cairo being chosen as the tourism capital of the OIC member states for 2026, emphasizing its rich and varied tourism offerings.

The Minister emphasized the ministry’s ongoing initiatives to enhance the Cairo Short City Break product, with the aim of positioning Cairo as an exceptional tourist destination.
