For Empowering Egyptian youth, the Ministry of Social Solidarity has formalized a strategic partnership with the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development to bolster the Social Solidarity Units across universities in Egypt. This partnership was solidified through the signing of a protocol aimed at providing vital support for university students, preparing them for a successful transition into the workforce.
The agreement was signed by Dr. Mohamed El-Aqabi, Assistant Minister of Social Solidarity for Strategic Communications and Media, and Leila Hosny, Executive Director of the Sawiris Foundation. The event was attended by several high-ranking officials from both the Ministry and the Sawiris Foundation, including Ayman Abdel Mawgod, Permanent Deputy of the Ministry of Social Solidarity, and other prominent leaders within the two organizations.
During the signing ceremony, Dr. Maya Morsi, Minister of Social Solidarity, acknowledged the Sawiris Foundation’s pivotal role as a strategic partner in the Ministry’s mission to support various segments of Egyptian society. “The Sawiris Foundation is not only a partner in the Social Solidarity Units project but also a longstanding ally of the Ministry,” said Dr. Morsi. She stressed the importance of the Social Solidarity Units in universities, noting that the project is a key initiative for the Ministry.
Dr. Morsi further explained that the Ministry of Social Solidarity aims to provide both direct and indirect services to all segments of society, with a particular focus on university students. She emphasized that universities’ roles extend beyond academic training, now also encompassing professional and practical empowerment. “The Ministry’s initiatives are designed to equip students with skills and experiences that will integrate them into the workforce successfully,” Dr. Morsi added.
The protocol outlines a comprehensive plan to provide training and job opportunities for students, particularly those in their final years of university. Under the agreement, a total of 2,000 students will receive specialized training conducted by accredited companies that meet high standards of quality. This training will align with the needs of the labor market and prepare students for professional challenges ahead.
Dr. El-Aqabi elaborated on the collaboration’s objectives, emphasizing that it aims to establish a framework for mutual cooperation between the Ministry and the Sawiris Foundation. The initiative’s core goals include economic empowerment for university students, with various developmental interventions that will be designed collaboratively. Additionally, the partnership will facilitate job placements in institutions that offer suitable and professional opportunities, helping students apply the skills and knowledge they have gained.
The collaboration also includes the development of a comprehensive marketing strategy to promote the project’s goals, ensuring that it reaches its intended audience and achieves maximum impact.
Leila Hosny, Executive Director of the Sawiris Foundation, expressed her enthusiasm for the partnership, describing it as a representation of both organizations’ shared vision for empowering Egyptian youth. “We believe that investing in the capabilities of our youth is an investment in Egypt’s future,” Hosny remarked. She also emphasized that the initiative is part of the Foundation’s broader commitment to sustainable development, built on scientific principles. “Through this collaboration, we aim to provide an environment where students can acquire essential skills and secure employment opportunities that match their ambitions,” she added.
Hosny also noted that the partnership builds on the success of the Sawiris Foundation’s previous efforts in establishing Social Solidarity Units in Egyptian universities, an initiative that has already shown substantial impact on the lives of students. “We are thrilled to continue this journey with the Ministry of Social Solidarity and look forward to seeing the positive outcomes of this collaborative effort,” she concluded.
By offering training, skill development, and job opportunities, the collaboration between the Ministry of Social Solidarity and the Sawiris Foundation will not only support university students but also contribute to Egypt’s long-term development by preparing a new generation of skilled and capable professionals.
