Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Ayman Ashour, emphasized the ministry’s part in developing the human element and serving the community, pointing to the formation of the Equal Opportunities Committee to support the ministry’s role in implementing the 2030 strategy for empowering Egyptian women.
Ahmed El-Sheikh, Permanent Undersecretary of the Ministry and supervisor of the Equal Opportunities Committee, indicated that the committee achieved many goals during 2022, in coordination with NCW, Ministries of Health and Endowments, and the Colleges of Technology in several fields.
The committee’s achievements included activating the presidential initiative “100 million health” in the ministry, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, by participating in the “National Campaign to Knock on Doors to Vaccinate Against Coronavirus (Reactivation Dose), and the proposal to establish units to combat violence against women and support people with disabilities in all technological and civil universities.
This comes in line with the goals of sustainable development (Vision Egypt 2030) and following the directives of the political leadership.
Regarding women’s empowerment, Hala Al-Amin, Director General of Citizens Service and Head of the Equal Opportunities Committee at the ministry stated that the committee had coordinated with the Leadership Development Institute to set up a special camp for distinguished girls from institutes affiliated with colleges of technology only, with the participation of the NCW, the Ministries of Social Solidarity, Youth and Sports, and endowments.
