Ministers of environment, petroleum open 1st smart recycling station in Egypt, Middle East

Ministers of Environment Yasmin Fouad and Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tareq el Molla opened on Monday2/1/2023  the 1st smart recycling station in Egypt and the Middle East to recycle wastewater released from oil facilities in the Gulf of Suez.

The establishment of the plant is part of the state efforts to preserve the environment and natural resources and comes in implementation of recommendations of the global climate change conference (COP27) that was held in Sharm El Sheikh in November 2022.

The minister of environment said the smart recycling station is designed to ensure the highest standards of quality as it does not need infrastructure because it is made of containers fixed on concrete structures.

The station, that uses the most advanced recycling technology and whose capacity amounts to 1,000 cubic meters a day, was built by Al Amal Petroleum Company (Amapetco) with costs exceeding 8 million dollars.
