Minister of Planning & Economic Development & International Cooperation Signs 3 MoUs with the NDRC and the CIDCA

During her visit to Beijing to participate in the second edition of the Conference of the Forum on Global Action for Shared Development, Minister of Planning and Economic Development and International Cooperation Rania A. Al-Mashat signed three memoranda of understanding with Ms. Zheng Bei, Vice Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission.

In China (NDRC) and Mr. Luo Zhaohui, Chairman of the Chinese International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), thereby advancing Egyptian-Chinese relations across various areas of mutual interest.

The first MoU signed with the NDRC aims to enhance cooperation in the exchange of experiences and mutual benefit, focusing on economic collaboration through the utilization of expertise related to macroeconomics, industrial development, renewable energy, technological innovation, and sustainable development in light of the comprehensive partnership and exceptional relations between the two countries.

According to the agreement, a series of workshops, seminars, and training programs will be held to benefit from the Chinese experience in reform and development and organize capacity-building and training programs, among other forms of cooperation.

In addition to signing an MoU with the Chairman of CIDCA to strengthen and expand mobility and assistive technology products manufacturing and service provision, Al-Mashat also signed a second MoU to enhance collaboration regarding the implementation of the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS).

This system holds significant importance in achieving economic and social development and improving living conditions. The establishment of a center of excellence for persons with locomotor disabilities in Egypt is part of the project, which includes two key components.

The first component focuses on enhancing human capacity and providing necessary technical support through capacity-building programs, while the second component involves supplying equipment and devices according to technical specifications.

Regarding the new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), H.E. Al-Mashat highlighted that these newly established partnerships signify a significant progression in strengthening the bilateral relations between Egypt and China. These partnerships encompass a wide array of sectors and areas of mutual interest, with a primary focus on enhancing investment in human capital, expanding scientific research, and facilitating the exchange of developmental experiences and practices.

According to State Information Service Website Al-Mashat also commended the successful convening of the second edition of the Conference of the Forum on Global Action for Shared Development by CIDCA. This conference, aimed at fostering cooperation among Southern countries, serves to broaden the collaborative efforts with China and Southern nations, particularly in Africa, while also establishing new partnerships within the framework of the Global Development Initiative (GDI) initiated by the Chinese president.

She expressed Egypt’s anticipation of hosting the forthcoming edition of the forum, underscoring the country’s strategic partnership with China and the notable opportunities it presents for advancing cooperation among Egypt, China, and African nations.
