According to Egyptian Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala El-Saeed, the National Project for Development of the Egyptian Family (NPDEF) is receiving unprecedented political support due to its role in overseeing the population issue.

During a meeting to review NPDEF’s progress, the minister stated that the project includes an incentive program to deal with population growth and improve citizens’ lives.

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi was present at the project’s launch ceremony in March 2022.

The project is the foundation for addressing the overpopulation crisis through a holistic vision that includes health, social, family, and economic dimensions. It will be implemented over three years and will be based on accurate databases and active communication mechanisms with all segments of society, which can be used to generate interest in the project’s activities.

During its first year, the project focused on the governorates that comprised the first phase of the presidential initiative “Decent Life,” which encompassed 1,520 villages.
