by Nada Khaled

Born in Dmietta, Shahd Al-Mahdi started drawing cartoon characters at the age of 6. She participated in several art exhibitions, most notably “Rihanna” affiliated with the Decent Life presidential initiative.

Al-Mahdi achieved advanced positions in drawing festivals and was named “Top Arab Artist” in recognition of her remarkable artistic achievements featured in her drawings of iconic celebrities, writers, and scientists.

At a time when those of her age resorted to fun and play, the daughter of Damietta Governorate grabbed her brush to start drawing a new and different future with bright colors to become the youngest celebrated plastic artist in Egypt.

The young artist quickly developed her talent and became a professional artist. She participated in art exhibitions with the capabilities and expertise of senior painters without setting a specific ceiling for her dreams.

The miracle child said during an interview: I developed my talent by watching drawing channels on YouTube, and I kept drawing every day using a variety of materials. My whole family encourages me, and my father provides me with all the tools and materials I need while my mom registers me in all competitions and exhibitions.

Moreover, the 12-year-old confirmed that she won first place in the Creative Child Festival nationwide and achieved first place in the Our Arab Writers Forum competition, and her winning works were featured in a book.

She also achieved fourth place in the second forum for the young artist under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture and won the title of Arab Artist in the International Arab Artist Competition under the supervision of the International Federation of Arab Plastic Artists.
