The Egyptian government and International Monetary Fund (IMF) staff held fruitful discussions in preparation for the first review mission of Egypt’s reform program under the support of IMF’s Extended Fund Facility (EFF), IMF Mission Chief for Egypt Ivanna Vladkova Hollar stated on Sunday.
The discussions were held on the sidelines of the closing day of World Bank and IMF Spring Meetings in Washington DC.
Hollar added that the discussions addressed several issues related to the implementation of the program as well as the outlook for the Egyptian economy. The discussions will lead up to the start of the first review mission, as they will continue virtually.
A delegation of Egyptian officials that included both the ministers of finance and international cooperation as well as the Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt attended the meetings to discuss the first review of the $3 billion loan deal with the IMF’s officials.
The review will be conducted before the end of the current FY2022/2023.
