Celebrating the upcoming International Women’s Day, health stakeholders have launched the second round of the Women’s Health Accelerator Programme that empowers female-led innovation in healthcare and focuses on women’s health challenges across the MENAT region.
Each year, March commemorates International Women’s Day, which the UN first celebrated on March 8, 1975.
Earlier this March, the second round of the Women’s Health Accelerator Programme was launched in commemoration of the occasion. The program aims to empower digital health startups with solutions to enhance women’s health across the Middle East, North Africa, and Turkey (MENAT) region.
In a press release, private sector stakeholders Organon and Flat6Labs announced that the initiative aims to accelerate the growth of 15 startups in three main fields: family planning, fertility planning, and women’s wellness.
The program’s objective is to address specific challenges women face in the region concerning their health, aiming to find sustainable and long-term solutions.
The focus will be on identifying and supporting digital solutions that can help improve accessibility, empower individuals, and enhance overall well-being, ultimately advancing women’s healthcare in the identified areas.
The initiative aims to accelerate the growth of 15 startups and engage with various stakeholders, with the ultimate goal of graduating startups that are ready to launch and address current challenges in women’s health.
In the program’s first round in 2023, three standout startups achieved significant accomplishments: “OMGYNO,” founded by Doreen Toutikian and Elisabeth Malini in Greece and Lebanon; “Siira,” founded by Sandra Salame in Lebanon, and “Maternally,” founded by Yasmin El-Mouallem in the UAE.
