Health Ministry Signs Cooperation Protocol with SOS

Minister of Health and Population, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, witnessed the signing ceremony of a cooperation protocol between the Public Authority for Health Care and SOS, the world’s largest company specializing in providing health services to international patients.

Signing the protocol was the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr. Ahmed Al-Sobky, Assistant Minister of Health and Population for Control and Follow-up, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Public Authority for Health Care, and SOS Company, Mrs. Cathy Brett, Regional Director for the Middle East and Africa.

The ceremony came on the sidelines of the Minister of Health and Population’s attendance at the Arab Health Exhibition and Conference “Arab Health 2023”, which will be held from January 30 to February 2 at the Dubai World Trade Center in the United Arab Emirates.

Dr. Ahmed El Sobky, Assistant Minister of Health and Population for Control and Follow-up and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Health Care, explained that the protocol qualifies Egypt to join the international medical network and to be a major center for the network on the continent of Africa, which contributes to enhancing the competitive opportunities of the Egyptian state in the field of health tourism.

He added that the protocol supports cooperation with the SOS company to train medical teams on aeromedical evacuation, crisis, and disaster management from an international perspective, as well as dealing with international patients affiliated with international organizations and mining and oil companies of various nationalities.

Al-Sobky indicated that SOS had visited 8 hospitals in the governorates of Port Said, Ismailia, Luxor, and South Sinai and assessed the facilities and services provided there, which was the first step for signing this protocol.
