Extraordinary Ministerial Meeting of Women’s Committee of Arab League Addresses Women Empowerment

The General Secretariat (Social Affairs Sector – Women’s Department) is set to hold the extraordinary ministerial meeting of the Arab Women’s Committee to discuss the issues that will be presented to the work of the fifth session of the Arab Economic and Social Development Summit, chaired by the Republic of Iraq, the current presidency of the Arab Women’s Committee, with a distinguished presence from Arab countries.

The meeting will witness ministers and heads of national mechanisms concerned with women’s affairs from 19 Arab countries will participate in the meeting, to discuss several issues related to empowering Arab women and the recommendation regarding their submission to the work of the Arab Economic and Social Development Summit to be held on the 6th and 7th of November in the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.

Moreover, it will tackle three proposed topics, namely the strategic framework for the regional program for the economic and social empowerment of Arab women (2024-2030)” presented by the General Secretariat Women’s Administration and the topic of “Arab action plan to encourage entrepreneurship among women in the Arab world (mechanisms for women’s economic integration and empowerment), especially rural women)” submitted by the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria and the topic of political empowerment of Arab women (reality and prospects)” submitted by the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.

For her part, Ambassador Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Social Affairs Sector, stated, “The General Secretariat places the empowerment of Arab women among its priorities and is keen to present issues that aim to improve the status of women at the highest political levels.
